Internet Services

I've been trying to sign up another online service for home. Currently we still have an AOL account that we have had since high school. Because the only Internet users in my home are just at home for only summer vacation and winter break, I realize that my dad pays way too much for Internet service. And not that great service at that. I mean, AOL that we have is dial-up, and literally, I have connection problems in 20-minute intervals. I probably cannot even finish writing this entry without having my service stop for a minute and then having to sign back online. It is very slow and annoying, especially after one is used to using ResNet at school, which thought we complain, is pretty good service most of the time. Also, AOL has features that makes its price pretty high, but we never use them, so why should we be paying for them? So what service can we use for only 3-months out of the year without having to pay cancellation charges?

I was trying to research online and came across this website called ripoffreport.com. It apparently posts information about bad businesses by consumers. Now, I am not sure of the authenticity of all the reports, but some of the posts are scary if they are true. It's like one of those expose stories on 20/20: frightening to think about, but I'm glad to know about it now. But really, it also just eliminates possibilities for changing my Internet service, and it probably trashes all the new online services that are out nowadays. Oh, dear. Why can't it be simple? What other Internet services should I look into?
